PTSG Provides Specialist Electrical Services At World‑First Green Hydrogen Project

At the end of September 2023 Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) was contracted to provide specialist electrical services for Altrad in a world‑first green hydrogen project.

Altrad describes itself as the critical human infrastructure that enhances the lives of millions, by the value‑adding solutions it provides in support of the nation’s vital assets. Altrad Babcock was selected as major works contractor for SGN early in 2023. Known as H100 Fife, the ground‑breaking project is situated in Levenmouth, on the east coast of Fife. Up to 300 homes can choose to opt‑in to have their homes supplied with hydrogen through a new distribution network in 2024, providing zero‑carbon fuel for heating and cooking. It will be the first 100% green hydrogen‑to‑homes zero carbon network anywhere in the world, demonstrating the potential for the entire British gas network to deliver hydrogen gas.

The contract between PTSG and Altrad sees engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd covering a wide range of services. This includes the design, supply, install, test and commission site‑wide power earthing, lightning protection and surge protection systems.

PTSG is the UK’s leading provider of lightning and surge protection services and power earthing solutions. In addition to designing and installing bespoke systems, PTSG also carries out testing and inspection and maintenance work. This is to ensure systems are operationally efficient and continue to comply with regulations.
