Expanding Levels Of Service And Maintenance Support At FBS Hörmann
The acquisition of the Fen‑Bay Group in December 2021 has enabled Hörmann UK to create one of the largest, nationwide service and maintenance teams in the industrial market. Located at Welbourn, Lincolnshire the new team brings together unprecedented levels of experience and skill, supported by the resources of a large, multi‑national Group.
Rebranded FBS Hörmann the formation of the new team has enabled Hörmann UK to consolidate and strengthen its position in the market as a one‑stop‑solution for the warehouse and logistics market. Not only can they now supply a truly comprehensive range of industrial doors and loading/lifting solutions they are now able to provide long‑term service and maintenance support over the whole product range, including their perimeter protection solutions.
With a team of over one hundred engineers on the road, FBS Hörmann offer a country‑wide, 24/7, 365 days‑a‑year service provision, with an impressive call‑out time of just 4 hours. Whilst the engineers are the visible face of the service operation, they are backed by an experienced team behind the scenes, including key accounts, inbound calls, estimating, planning, and scheduling - a large, dedicated department working to ensure that on‑site operations are fully supported.
Donna Evans (Hooper), Key Accounts Manager at FBS Hörmann comments, “Over the years Fen‑Bay had developed a well‑known reputation in the market for quality products and the high levels of personalised service we provided. When we joined Hörmann we were immediately struck by the similarities between the two companies, both being family owned and operating with similar philosophies. This has resulted in the smooth amalgamation of the service and maintenance teams and enabled us to maintain the individual, high service levels that we had become known for, whilst creating new business opportunities. You could say it’s a perfect match.”
The creation of FBS Hörmann is already starting to pay dividends for the company, with the prospect of working with some of the largest retailers in the UK. They have recently been awarded a regional contract with a well‑known supermarket chain to provide service and maintenance support for their retail premises, with the contract covering doors, loading, and lifting equipment, security gates and any civil works required.
Phil Clark, National Commercial Service Manager for FBS Hörmann comments, “It’s certainly been a busy time since Hörmann acquired the Fen‑Bay Group. However, we have now completed the creation of our new service team, with everyone operating successfully out of one site. We have also taken the opportunity to review our overall operation and ensure that we are operating efficiently throughout the whole business.
One result of the review is our recently formed partnership with Hilti to provide standardised tools and equipment for the whole service team. We are now able to ensure our team of engineers have the best tools available to do the job. We also have the ability to track the location of each individual item, which improves efficiency when working on large projects. Tools can also be recharged in between jobs using inverters in the service vans to further improve the way we operate.”
With an expanding order book and ambitious growth plans the service operation at FBS Hörmann is set to continue to expand, and they are currently undertaking an active recruitment programme to further enlarge the team and accommodate demand.
