Members To Go Free To BESA National Conference

BESA National Conference The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has made tickets for its National Conference on October 20th at Novotel London West free to members across all its group companies.

Delegates will simply be asked for a £10 donation to charity which will go to the Lighthouse Club.

The Association said it was able to make this gesture because it has already covered the cost of the event thanks to the “unprecedented support” it had received from affiliate members, sponsors, and exhibitors, along with the high volume of early bookings for its National Awards dinner, which follows the Conference.

“As a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to represent and support our members, we always try to deliver the best possible service at the best value,” said CEO David Frise. “This year we are in the enviable position of having already covered our costs, so we wanted to give something back to our members at a time when they are facing rising costs in almost every other area.”

The £10 charitable contribution will be donated to the Light House Club, a leading organisation dedicated to tackling mental health problems in the industry.

“The Conference is a great opportunity to hear the latest thinking of leading figures from the worlds of building services engineering, finance and the environment, to engage in debate, put your views forward and network,” said Frise.

The over-arching theme of the one-day conference is: ‘Bringing buildings to life’ and it will feature a wide range of speakers considering how the industry can make buildings “fit for people, fit for purpose, and fit for life”.

It will bring together representatives from across the building engineering supply chain to consider the big topics of the day including how to attract the right range of skills to deliver our ambitions on building safety, sustainability, and health.

There will be six keynote panel sessions taking place in the main BESA Theatre to generate animated and informed debate:

  1. The Human Building – why a building is like a human body and what that means for its services
  2. The Healthy Building – keeping people happy, healthy, and productive
  3. The Safe Building – rethinking fire safety
  4. The Skilful Building – creating a more diverse, skilled workforce
  5. The Future Building – what will our industry look like in 10, 20 – even 50 years’ time?
  6. The Valued Building – the CBI considers how the economy and asset values affect our sector

The conference will also feature two Technical Theatres hosting a series of detailed sessions looking at everything from diversity in recruitment and retention to modern methods of measuring and monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ) and the very latest technical guidance.

The free booking offer is now open to all BESA members and associates and the same gesture has also been extended to BESA’s sister companies: REFCOM, BESCA, SKILLcard, VHE, CPS, WELPLAN and SFG20.

The conference is open to all the industry but delegates outside the BESA group will be asked to pay.

As there are limited places left it will be first come first served, so please click here to view the full programme and register.

“We are delighted to be returning to an ‘in person’ format after two years of virtual events,” said Frise. “And, as we like to point out to our members and friends, you have to be ‘in the room’ to find out what you didn’t know you didn’t know.”
