Tecton – Ready To Meet Tomorrow’s Needs

Zumtbel's TECTON at Edinburgh University Archive

Zumtobel’s TECTON is the world’s first LED continuous-row lighting system to have an 11-pole current conducting section built into its trunking. This means that the system comes ready equipped to meet tomorrow’s needs. All functions such as power supply, lighting control and connection to emergency lighting are seamlessly integrated into the multifunctional trunking. Luminaires can be positioned flexibly onto the system and can be adapted to suit structural alterations at any time. TECTON copes effortlessly with various lighting requirements. The TECTON trunking remains unchanged and forms the functional backbone of the system. It is simply a matter of replacing or adding lighting modules, light sources or optics as required.

Designed for uniform illumination and minimal glare, TECTON offers easy installation, energy savings and low maintenance, with 4 different distribution options available - wide beam, narrow beam, wall wash and double wall wash, with UGR < 19. Even when different light distribution options are placed next to each other, TECTON appears as a consistent continuous-row system without any visual interruption. All that is needed to create a continuous-row LED lighting system is a trunking unit, feed, an LED luminaire (batten) and mounting hardware. Thanks to an audible and visible fastening system, the luminaire and the pre-wired trunking is quickly and securely connected.

With a luminaire efficiency of up to 168 lumens per watt, TECTON also offers key economic benefits. Less maintenance work means fewer interruptions and reduced costs thanks to lower energy consumption. In addition, TECTON has an optimal colour rendering index of Ra 80 and an excellent service life – so that even after 50,000 hours of operation, 90 percent of the initial luminous flux will still be achieved.

TECTON uses split-lens technology which directs the light in a targeted, efficient manner from the centre to the lateral areas. Accordingly, the lighting pressure in the middle is reduced, and the luminaire causes much less glare – without any negative effects on the light distribution curve. With the split-lens concept, all known beam patterns can be realised. The position of the LED remains visible, but in contrast to conventional lenses, the luminaire surface can be extended to the entire width, thus clearly gaining in homogeneity.

Available in white, silver or black as standard, TECTON is compatible with a variety of Zumtobel’s luminaires and controls for industrial and commercial use, including RESCLITE PRO emergency luminaires, LITECOM building management system and a wide range of sensors. The luminaire is quickly and securely installed thanks to the unique TECTON trunking system which provides audible clicking and visible locking. Tried-and-tested features, such as plug and play and no-tool installation make the TECTON product family both time and cost efficient. The infrastructure also allows the routing and containment of 3rd party cables and systems enabling, for example, the easy addition of Wi-Fi, smoke detectors and security system devices.

TECTON has proven popular in a wide variety of applications including, offices, supermarkets, retail stores, libraries, hospitals, factory / warehouses, data centres and many more.
