The Floorbrite Group – Life after Coronavirus

The Floorbrite Group – Life after CoronavirusBy Nina Wyers, Marketing and Brand Director, The Floorbrite Group.

For over 45 years, daily cleaning has been at the forefront of our business. From offices to distribution, factory, retail, medical, education or leisure facilities, you name it, we clean it and also provide a whole host of facility services too.

Our wealth of experience has earned us our reputation as the reliable, efficient cleaner of choice. We provide a 24-hour, 7 day a week cleaning service that ensures your business stays clean and hygienic.

Now more than ever cleaning is essential in the workplace in order to keep employees and visitors safe and healthy. Increased cleaning schedules and specialist deep cleaning will become routine as we discover what life on the other side of Coronavirus looks like. But life was already changing in the FM world. Only last year we predicted that changes in 2020 would not only be client driven but also external, technological, social and political and now based on an international pandemic.

Those in our industry who are quick to respond and adapt will survive the economic fallout, but our workplaces may never be the same again. Flexible working had already become the norm for many, moving away from individual workstations and divided offices in favour of a more fluid use of space. In recent months however, we have adapted to a new way of life, with many working from home and this may be a change that will stay. Those who do return to the workplace will adapt to new working practices, potentially staggered start and finish times to avoid the morning rush on public transport. Lunch and break rotas to avoid overcrowded canteens, desk spacing and screening. As a result, cleaning contracts will increasingly demand a 24-hour monitoring of space, with the efficient use of robotics and IoT facilitating the move away from on schedule cleaning towards a demand-based system.

Wider societal awareness around health and public concern for the risks they are taking in returning to their place of work or public spaces will see further changes to the Cleaning and FM world. Those businesses that give innovation a cursory nod may well find that minimal efforts are no longer adequate.

The reality is, clients will be looking for contractors to offer solutions to COVID-19 that will eliminate or greatly reduce exposure for their workforce or general public. They will be keen to demonstrate that they have provided the latest in innovation in order to give staff and public, peace of mind and confidence in returning to work and public spaces.

We’re focused on making small changes that make a big difference, whether that means sourcing, viricidal, bactericidal, anti-microbial, eco-benign probiotic cleaners or chemical free stabilised aqueous ozone using only water and oxygen to outperform standard cleaning ranges or introducing touchless dispensers, self-cleaning skins for door handles, push plates and lift buttons and on site decontamination equipment that can leave your premises contaminant free for up to 30 days. We are giving our clients confidence that they are working with a business that understands their needs in a new world.

Yet still, where would we be without our 1500 strong workforce of cleaning operatives. Today they are no longer invisible, but some of the nation’s heroes. Stepping out of the shadows along with their peers, keeping our hospitals, supermarkets and essential services open during this unprecedented time.

There has never been a better opportunity to demonstrate our value to our clients, while building a business that’s fit for the future.
