phs Besafe, one of the UK’s leading commercial cleaning and workwear providers, has been shortlisted for five LADA awards for excellence and innovation in laundry services.

The Laundry & Drycleaning Awards annually recognise companies and individuals which are leading the field in the textile care industry.

phs Besafe has been shortlisted for ‘Commercial Laundry of the Year’, which recognises the business that has excelled the most in customer service and innovation in the sector during the year.

It is also shortlisted in the ‘Green Impact’ category, which celebrates businesses that have invested in employees, systems and services that improve their environmental performance, and for ‘Most Innovative Company’, which recognises the business with innovations that have improved commercial performance, effectiveness or customer experience.

Sophie Macaulay, Depot Laundry Manager at phs Besafe’s Tividale site, is shortlisted for ‘Laundry Manager of the Year’, and Martin Wood, a sub-contractor who has worked closely with phs for the last 30 years, has been shortlisted in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category after being nominated by phs Besafe for his outstanding work.

Derek Brown, Managing Director at phs Besafe, said: “The team has worked tirelessly in the last 12-24 months to bring about significant changes in the business and to introduce new innovations that have had a real impact on our commercial success, customer service and environmental performance.

“We have invested heavily in a new innovative drying system to replace the industry’s traditional tunnel finishers. ‘Drysafe’ uses an infrared drying system to monitor moisture in the garments, not the machine, so the machine can cool down the instant they are dry, saving energy and prolonging the life of the garment. We are the only UK company with this technology.

“We have reduced our wash temperatures and cycle lengths to save water and energy, and we have invested in water recycling tanks, heat exchangers and a £¼m intelligent management system, which provides real-time data analysis on machine, operator and system performance, allowing us to make instant improvements as needed.

“We are committed to transforming the landscape of the textile care industry in the UK by providing new benchmarks in customer service, garment life and energy saving. I’m delighted that our team, and Sophie and Martin, have been recognised for their outstanding work in these areas.”
