ADSA – Automatic Door Suppliers Association
Setting the benchmark for excellence in the automatic door industry since 1985
ADSA was formed in 1985 to establish quality and safety standards for the powered pedestrian door industry. We created the first industry code of practice – setting the standard for the safety of doors for pedestrian use. This became the basis of BS 7036:1988 – the national benchmark for the provision and installation of safety devices for automatic, power operated pedestrian door systems.
We are now a primary contributor in developing British and European industry standards. We work with the British Standards Institution (BSI) to develop codes of practice, designed to make things better, safer and more efficient. In turn, we support the BSI in its role as a member of CEN, the European standardisation organisation, which is made up of standard‑setting bodies from 34 countries.
This is an important role as our industry is ever‑changing. The emergence of new technologies and their integration as part of entrance solutions means safety and quality standards are continually scrutinised.
