Judith McNulty-Green, of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), said: “As the UK continues to experience very hot and dry weather, we are urging businesses to review their fire risk assessments.

“The hot weather this summer has already caused a number of fires and there is a strong possibility of more happening with continued warm, dry conditions. With this in mind, businesses need to adapt. They should review their fire risk assessments and implement any adaptations or additions to the control measures they already have in place.”

“Fire presents a very real risk to the health and safety of workers, so it is crucial that businesses have robust arrangements in place.

“In addition, businesses and workers are encouraged to do what they can to ensure they remain cool during hot weather.”
