Sodexo Celebrate A Hat-Trick Of Awards Success

Sodexo's team Colchester Garrison being presented with their award Sodexo has scooped a string of top accolades at the Public Sector Catering Awards and Springboard Awards of Excellence.

Sodexo’s government business walked away with two awards at the Public Sector Catering Awards held on Thursday 7th April at Hilton London Metropole.

Catering manager for Sodexo at HMP Bronzefield, Brian Whitworth, won the Catering Manager the Year. Brian was recognised for his caring and innovative approach in supporting the diverse catering needs of prisoners and colleagues while managing the many challenges of the Covid pandemic

Sodexo’s team at Colchester Garrison won Team of the Year for their support of the deployment and return of 750 personnel from 16 Air Assault Brigade as part of Operation Pitting, the British military operation which evacuated British nationals and eligible Afghans from Afghanistan.

The team had only a few days to devise and execute a detailed operational plan to welcome the troops back to the base. The team delivered this along with the wider team at Colchester Garrison, including the RMPA and Defence Infrastructure, by providing Covid-safe quarantine accommodation and three nutritious meals a day, ensuring the safety and mental wellbeing needs of returning military personnel.

Paul Anstey, CEO of Government at Sodexo UK and Ireland said: “Well done to our winners at this year’s Public Sector Catering awards. It has been a turbulent few years for our colleagues working on the frontline and in the public sector. These awards give essential recognition to our teams, who have continued to deliver excellence every day regardless of the challenges they have faced. Congratulations to all involved.”

At the Springboard Awards of Excellence, held at the Science Museum in London on Thursday 7 April, Sodexo won Best Kickstart Employer.

The award recognised Sodexo for its success in providing high-quality work placements that introduced each recruit to a multitude of opportunities across many disciplines and services and led to converting kickstart recruits to permanent roles.

Sodexo has worked closely with Springboard for many years and helps to support them with the development of programmes and resources that promote careers in the hospitality industry, demonstrating it as an employer of choice and showcasing it as a vibrant, dynamic, and great place to work.

Sue Davison, Head of Apprenticeships and Early Careers at Sodexo UK and Ireland: “Sodexo is delighted to have won this prestigious award. We are proud to have welcomed many young people into employment and given them an incredible kickstart to their careers. We look forward to continuing this work and making the most of the amazing talent available within the hospitality industry.”
