BPCA Training Offers Informed Overview Of Pest Issues

British Pest Control Association (BPCA) logo A pest awareness training course for non-technical staff has been created by national trade body the British Pest Control Association (BPCA).

The e-learning course is designed to give people who manage pest control contracts – such as Facilities Managers – an informed overview of the risks posed by pests and some of the solutions available.

It aims to support contract management objectives and help businesses ensure a seamless service, should a pest control issue arise.

Karen Dawes is Training Development Manager at BPCA. She said: “Managing pest control contracts – or dealing with an urgent pest issue – can be challenging if you don’t have a background in the sector.

“This course aims to give people in non-technical roles an insight into common pests, signs of activity and how to manage customer expectations.”

BPCA’s Pest Awareness for Non-Technical Employees online course covers:

  • Definition of Pest Awareness
  • The difference between vertebrates and invertebrates
  • The common signs of pest activity
  • The seven principles of pest control
  • Different methods of pest control and monitoring
  • Common pests
  • How to manage customer expectations
  • Triaging customer service calls

Karen added: “This course gives a basic knowledge of pest control that supports clear communication with customers, even though you won’t be carrying out treatments yourself.

“It’s also useful to have a better level of understanding when discussing contract terms and requirements with your pest professional.”
